Headwear is big news for the season - anyone who braves a hat projects an auora of confidence. They enhance - or at least change an outfit.
It didn't look likely any french woman would ever wear a beret again. They'd long become the opposite of chic, but last season, the beret made its comeback.
During the last edition of the Paris Fashion week, Dior featured the beret imitating a muse from the 60's. It was leather and pulled firmly over model heads. Rihanna has since been seen in Dior's leather style.
What makes a beret so relevant recently?
Despite its military roots, the beret has long been associated with creatives and hipsters throughout history - they were worn by beatniks, painters, directors and poets.
But then it got political; Che Guevara used it in the 60's as a symbol of revolution,as he rallied for supporters to rise against the british government in Cuba.
The beret is seen in present day as a sign of revolution, rebellion, mutiny.
With all these in mind, its no surprise the formerly cheesy french favorite is back. Beret style can transform an outfit. It can create different persona for an individual.
When wearing a Beret....
There are some things to take note of when wearing this fashion item. Firstly, try to go full french ingenue. The Beret adds an edge to the classic French look by tilting it to the side for the ultimate cool look. Its also preferred in leather, thanks to Dior's Fall collection. If you're trying to make a statement, you can try it in the red color matching it with our sunglasses or shoes. Staying cozy can also be your choice with comfortable knits. Try an unexpected color.
Alternatively, you can just dress down a classic black beret with an oversized sweater for that effortless look.
