From its inception, Orange Culture has set itself aside from the crowd. It is more than just a label, it's a culture, it's a movement. A movement for a creative class of men; self aware, expressive, exploratory, art-loving nomads. Combining classic and contemporary western silhouettes with African sensibilities, offering modern men who like a little flair and color.
Founded in 2011 by Nigerian born designer, Adebayo Oke-Lawal. He describes Orange Culture as a heady mixture of Nigerian inspired silhouettes, print fabrics and contemporary urban street wear. He stated that he has always driven home the idea that orange culture wants to redefine our attitudes, not only towards menswear, but towards masculinity as a social construct.
For his Spring/Summer 2018 lookbook, the concept, feeling and dilemma of trust served as an inspiration for compelling visuals.
The pieces in the Orange Culture SS18 Collection are mannered to wrestle with themselves over this concepts, he says. The collection finds its power in being is conceptual, visually appealing, but also wearable by both men and women - naturally serving the brands signature aesthetic of duality and unisex garments. The pieces of the collection vary, from hard to soft. The softer pieces from the collection connote the welcoming feeling of security and the harder ones of the tough lessons one learns from it.
The collection is Orange Culture's tangible interpretation and understanding of trust as a complex human phenomenon through emotive and reflective fabrics. Its a silent conversation between skin and bones.
