Yoon Ahn bagged a collaboration for her brand AMBUSH with Nike for a new collection featuring apparel and footwear. the collaboration which was one of this year’s most buzzed about Nike collabos was made out of Yoon’s desire to be comfortable in whatever she’s in while being on the move.
She stated “I don’t actively participate in sports”, as she told the tale of how she ended with such a big collaboration. “When you live a busy lifestyle, the last thing you want is to think about how your clothes are uncomfortable or not functional” she says. “The new lifestyle that a lot of us live is not so fragmented. Before, how you dressed in the morning wasn’t carried into nighttime. Now we move through space and time fluidly.” The Tokyo-based designer has quickly become one of fashions predominant aesthetes through her work at Ambush, founded with her partner Verbal, and at Dior Men, where she is director of jewelry. She mentioned that athletes and aesthetics are not so different after all. “I came to realise that the mental state that is required for me to be the best at what I do is the same as what is required for athlete to be the best, It requires discipline, practice…”
The collection features two coats, a reversible track jacket with fleece on one side and a metallic foil ripstop on the other, a faux fur jacket, a DRI-Fit Stretch bodysuit, a crop top, and fleece pant. To top it off, she released a retooled version of the Air Max 180.
She stated that “The Air Max 180 is the first pair of sneakers I ever bought with my own money. I wanted it so badly, having seen it in the pages of a magazine”.
We could see design element s from another classic sneaker, Nike’s Air Zoom Flight.
The AMBUSH x Nike apparel will be available December 6, while the sneakers would be available in the spring of 2019.
