Designer Matthew M. Williams has unveiled two upcoming collaborative sneaker silhouettes with Nike coming in an array of colors. The two silhouettes also feature a removable Vibram cramp-on attachment.
The first pair revealed on his Instagram was a sock-like-constructed sneaker that sits atop Nike’s Free Run sole unit. The shoe comes in a ninja-esque triple black colorway as well as a mixed-white iteration and features design elements that echo the aesthetic of a classic Nike tube sock. Being laceless, it uses straps placed over the vamp and around the ankle to attach its Vibram outsole and features suede and burnt PVC-like panels throughout its design.
The second pair teased is technical and hiking-inspired than its streamlined alternative. Matthew M. Williams revealed this pair in triple black, the same mixed-white colorway as before, and a black and red version which each feature the detachable Vibram outsole. This second pair is cut slightly lower and features a zip-opening from the collar to the footbed. The pair mixes more fabrics into its design such as nylon, suede and Flyknit and is finished with wire laces. Branding was seen in form of a “MMW” and Nike Swoosh co-branded leather insoles and “Matthew M. Williams” typography on the lateral-side rear heel.
